Cricket records change as matches are played, laws are amended and official selections are announced. Reddy Anna Sports Life therefore treats the source, format and date as part of the fact—not as an afterthought.
Source hierarchy
| Priority | Source type | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Official boards, governing bodies, laws and playing conditions | Squad announcements, rules, tournament conditions and policy statements. |
| 2 | Official scorecards and established player databases | Debut dates, match totals, runs, wickets and career chronology. |
| 3 | Reputable reporting and historical references | Context that is not available in a primary document. |
| 4 | Official player, team or authenticated social pages | Identity links and direct public statements, used with context. |
Unverified social posts, fan pages, copied tables and search-result snippets are not sufficient for a career statistic or selection claim. Where sources disagree, the page should either identify the difference, use the better-dated record or omit the claim until it can be resolved.
How the player archive is dated
The India cricketers archive combines men’s Test, ODI and T20I debut records. The year index means the first senior India international appearance in any of those formats. It does not mean that every listed player was active throughout that year or remains active now.
Expanded player profiles display Test, ODI and T20I figures separately. Each row includes a “through” date. Readers should use that date when comparing an active player’s page with a newer scorecard.
Images and identity links
Every expanded profile has a photo-credit section naming the creator, file page and reuse licence. Crops and format conversions are identified. A photograph is not added merely because it appears in image search.
Social icons are also selective. If a public account cannot be connected to the player through reliable identity evidence, no icon is displayed. The absence of an icon does not mean the player has no social account; it means the site does not publish an uncertain link.
Reporting an error
A clear correction request should contain:
- the exact page URL;
- the sentence, table cell or link in question;
- the proposed correction;
- a direct link to the strongest available source; and
- the date on which the source was checked.
The Contact page explains the communication channels currently offered by the site. If no public submission channel is listed, keep the page URL and evidence so the request can be sent when a channel becomes available.
How a correction is assessed
The identity of the player, the cricket format, the date and the source are checked together. A correction is not accepted solely because a newer number appears in a snippet or social post. When a change is supported, the affected statement or table should be updated; a material correction may also receive a short note explaining what changed.
This process applies to player profiles, the current-squad section and the cricket guides. For the broader editorial rules, read the Editorial Methodology.
